What a template does
Most organizations sell a small number of things over and over. Typing the same value, stage, probability and description into every new deal is slow and — more importantly — inconsistent. Two reps selling the identical package will enter two different numbers, and your pipeline forecast quietly becomes fiction.
A deal template stores those repeated fields once. Picking it on a new deal fills them in.
What is not in a template
Company, contact, lead source and expected close date are deliberately left out. Those are different on every deal by definition, and pre-filling them would invite someone to leave a wrong value in place.
Creating one
Org admins and managers can manage templates from Deals → Templates. Admins will also find the same card in Settings. Give the template a clear name — reps see only the name in the dropdown, so "Managed IT — 25 seats" beats "Template 2".
Managers need the Manage deal templates permission, which admins control in the manager permission grid in Settings.
Using one
On New Deal, choose a template from the dropdown at the top. The fields fill in immediately and you can still change anything before saving — a template is a starting point, not a lock.
Changing a template later
Editing a template affects future deals only. Deals already created keep the values they were saved with, which is what you want: a price change next quarter should not silently rewrite last quarter's pipeline.
