Who Can See a Deal: Ownership & Reassignment

Updated October 16, 2026

The rule

Every deal has an owner. Whoever creates a deal owns it, automatically and without being asked. From then on:

This applies everywhere a deal can appear — the Deals list, the kanban board, the Pipeline page, global search and the dashboard funnel. Pipeline column totals are counted the same way, so a rep's stage headers show their numbers rather than the whole team's.

Unassigned deals

A deal with no owner stays visible to everyone. Hiding it would strand the record the moment somebody leaves the company, and nobody would ever find it again.

Reassigning

Open the deal and use Reassign. Owners and admins can always do this; managers need the Reassign deals permission. Reps cannot reassign, including their own deals — handing work off is a supervisor's decision.

"That deal is assigned to someone else"

If you follow a link to a deal you do not own, SalesFury tells you who has it rather than pretending it does not exist. You are in the same organization, so that is useful information, not a leak. Links to deals in a different organization simply report that the record no longer exists.
