The Assign button
Open any contact and click 👤 Assign in the top-right action bar. It reads Reassign when the contact already has an owner. Pick a team member, or choose — Unassigned — to clear ownership entirely.
The current owner is shown in the Contact Info panel under Assigned To.
Who can reassign
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owner / Admin | Assign any contact to anyone, or unassign it |
| Manager | The same, but only if Managers can reassign contacts is enabled in Organization Settings |
| Member | May claim an unassigned contact for themselves only |
That last rule is deliberate: reps can pick up new leads without being able to take work away from a teammate.
Everything is logged
Every change writes an activity entry on the contact, for example “Assignment changed: Unassigned → Marlena Carver”, so ownership history is always visible in the timeline.
Assigning during import
You do not have to assign contacts one at a time. The CSV importer can assign an entire batch — to yourself, to one specific rep, or split round-robin across several. See Contact Import Assignment & Round-Robin.
Finding your contacts
On the Contacts list, use the assignment dropdown to filter to Assigned to Me or Unassigned. Unassigned is a good place to look for leads nobody has picked up yet.
