What a list is
A contact list is a set of contacts you choose by hand and give a name to — "Q3 Targets", "Met at the trade show", "Renewals due in March". Membership stays exactly as you left it until someone changes it.
Lists, tags and saved views — which one do I want?
SalesFury has three ways to group contacts and they are not interchangeable. Picking the wrong one is the most common source of confusion, so it is worth thirty seconds:
- Tag — a label stuck on a contact, shared across the whole organization. Good for a permanent property: VIP, Reseller, Spanish-speaking. One contact can carry many.
- Saved view — a stored filter, not a set of people. "All qualified leads in Texas" re-runs every time you open it, so its membership changes as your data changes. That is usually what you want — but it means you cannot use one to pin down a specific group.
- Contact list — static membership you curate. Use it when the group is these particular people and no filter could describe them. A filter cannot express "the twelve people I met at the conference".
Rule of thumb: if you can describe the group with a filter, save a view. If you can only describe it by pointing at each person, make a list.
Creating a list
Two ways, both from Contacts:
- From a selection — tick the contacts you want, choose ➕ Add to New List… from the bulk action menu, type a name and click Apply. The list is created and filled in one step.
- Empty, then fill later — click 🗃️ Lists in the top bar, then + New List. Here you can also set a colour and a short description explaining what the list is for.
Adding and removing contacts
Tick any contacts on the Contacts page and choose 🗃️ Add to List. Contacts already on the list are skipped rather than duplicated, and the confirmation tells you honestly what happened — for example "Added 9 contacts. 3 were already on it."
To take contacts off, first view the list, then tick the rows and choose ➖ Remove from….
Removing a contact from a list never deletes the contact. The same is true of deleting or emptying a list itself — only the grouping goes. Your contact records are untouched.
Viewing a list
Pick it from the Lists dropdown in the filter bar, or click View on the Lists page. A banner confirms which list you are looking at.
The list filter stacks with the others, so you can narrow a list further — for instance "Q3 Targets" and status Qualified and assigned to me. The filter is preserved as you page through results.
Who can see your lists
Lists are private to you by default. Nobody else sees them, not even your manager, so you can keep a rough working set without publishing it.
Tick Share with my team to make a list visible to everyone in your organization. Shared lists appear for colleagues under Shared with you. Even then, only you can change the membership — teammates can view and dial it, but not add or remove contacts. Managers and administrators can edit shared lists, so there is always someone able to tidy up if a list is left behind.
Working a list on the dialer
There are two routes, and they behave differently on purpose.
Quick route: the Dial button
Click 📞 Dial on the Lists page, or Send to Dialer from the banner when viewing a list. This creates a dialer call list with the same name, ready to work from Dialer → Settings.
This is a snapshot, taken at the moment you press the button — not a live link. Editing the contact list afterwards will not change the call queue. To pick up later changes, send the list to the dialer again.
Full route: build it in Dialer Settings
On Dialer → Settings, create a call list and set Contact Filter to From a Contact List. You can then pick the contact list and choose how it should behave:
- Keep in sync — the call queue always reflects the contact list's current members. Add someone to the list and they appear in the dialer automatically; remove them and they disappear. Best for an ongoing list you keep grooming.
- Take a snapshot — copy today's members and then leave them alone. Best for a campaign with a fixed audience, or when reps are part-way through a queue and it must not shift under them.
This route also lets you set the timer, sort order and calling window, which the quick Dial button leaves at their defaults.
A synced call list shows a 🔄 In sync badge in Dialer Settings alongside the contact list it follows.
If the contact list is deleted
A synced call list survives, but shows Source list deleted and dials nobody. That is deliberate: quietly falling back to "all contacts" would hand a rep thousands of people he never asked for. Point it at another list, or delete it.
Who can use lists
Everyone. Creating lists and adding contacts to them is available to every role, including sales reps — organising your own contacts is not a privileged action. The stricter bulk actions on the same menu (Delete, Assign To, Change Status) remain restricted to managers and administrators.
Practical points
- You cannot have two lists of your own with the same name, but two different people each can — so you and a colleague may both keep a "Hot Leads".
- A list only ever contains contacts from your own organization.
- If a list you had bookmarked was deleted or unshared, SalesFury shows all contacts and explains why rather than showing an error.
- Colours are cosmetic, but they make lists far quicker to pick out of the dropdown once you have more than a handful.
