Why you need this
When you send through an email provider's API, the bounce notice is delivered to the provider, not to SalesFury. Without a webhook, SalesFury never learns that an address is dead and will keep mailing it — steadily damaging the sending reputation of your domain.
This applies to SendGrid, Mailgun and Amazon SES. If you send over plain SMTP, bounces come back as ordinary mail and are handled without any setup.
Finding your details
Go to Settings → Email and scroll to 📮 Bounce & Complaint Webhook. You will see two values:
- Webhook URL — the address your provider posts events to. It contains a token unique to your organization.
- Signing secret — hidden by default. Click Reveal to view it, or Copy to copy it without showing it on screen.
Configuring your provider
- In your provider's dashboard, find the event or notification webhook settings.
- Paste in the Webhook URL.
- Enable at least the bounce, dropped and spam complaint events. Delivery and open events are accepted and ignored, so it is harmless to leave them on.
- Configure the signature header using your signing secret (see below).
How signing works
Every request must carry an HMAC-SHA256 of the raw request body, computed
with your signing secret, in an X-Webhook-Signature header. Either
Base64 or hex encoding is accepted, with or without a leading
sha256=.
Requests without a valid signature are rejected with a 401. This matters: without it, anyone who guessed your webhook URL could forge bounce events and suppress your contacts. The secret is unique to your organization, so it can never be used against another.
Rotating the secret
Use Rotate signing secret if the value may have been exposed. Rotation takes effect immediately — the old secret stops working the moment you click it, and bounce notifications will be rejected until you update your provider with the new value. Have the provider's settings page open and ready before you rotate.
Checking it works
Most providers offer a "send test event" button. After a real bounce, the affected contact shows a suppression banner and the message shows a Bounced status.
